A letter from my grandmother

Today I received a letter from my grandmother.
It was to celebrate my birthday. Every year she writes me a letter.

From my childhood, I sewed many goods for her, so she always writes me about them. She always writes me how she is proud of me and how happy she is.

I'm proud of her, because who teaches me a lot. She is always reading books and writing diaries. I'm doing also. It's very important custom for me.

This picture is me! She remembered the clothes what I wear often. And she wrote beside it "My pretty little lighthouse."
I'm really happy with her letters.

I sewed a whale shaped pouch.

It's a whale, because it has a big mouth!

Rabbit Long roll cake

This is one of my favorite sweets! I can get it in convenience stores and it costs only 1.5 dollars.
It has some varieties, and today I got chocolate version.
It's about 10 inches length, so it's enough for me and my boyfriend to share. Of course, it tastes very good.

I like this kind of kawaii package sweets.

How to make a fabric box

This is an easy recipe to make a fabric box with two pieces of fabrics.

Cut two pieces of fabric like the picture.

Put them to face the inside out and sew along every edge, leaving a hole to turn it inside out.

Turn it inside out and close the hole.

Then, sew the edge.

The back side is like this.

Sew each two corners together. I stitched it with red Sashiko embroidery thread and also stitched the bottom line as decoration.

That's all. It's really easy to make this box.
I made it for my mother.

Recently I also sewed skirts for my little niece and my friend's little daughter.
These skirts are called "balloon skirt" in Japan.

These skirts are also really easy to sew. Those are made of only two rectangles of different size.

My favorite restaurants

During the year-end and New Year holidays, I go back to my parents house every year. It's approx. 300 km far from my apartment in Yokohama.
I left my parents house when I graduated my university and started working.

Almost every time I go back there, I visit one of my favorite restaurants. It's not near my parents house but near my university. The restaurant is Japanese fly restaurant, and there is a famous menu, Pork tempura.
When I was a student, an old chef was cooking the tempura. He was more than 70 years old and some women of same age served. I loved his big hands always cooking carefully.

But several years ago, he retired and a new middle-aged chef continues the restaurant(The womens working there are always the same). The new chef cooks also very carefully and I like his hands too.
I cannot eat this dish in other restaurants. It's best fly in the world, I think.

I have three favorite restaurants. One is this, and the other is a Yakiniku restaurant in Yokohama. And the last one is seafood restaurant in Napoli, Italy.
I hope these three continues and I can visit these for long.
