International quilt week Yokohama 2009

Yokohama quilt week
Yesterday was the opening day of International quilt week Yokohama.
It was held near my house(approx. 30 minutes by walk), so I went there by myself.
There were lots of women who made a line in front of the entrance. The top picture was the biggest quilt in the hall what was placed at the entrance.

And also, there were big balloons at the entrance.

I also made a little rabbit doll at a class, and met an Australian woman. I took a picture of our dolls after we finished making, but the picture is missing from my camera... Maybe I couldn't take it... ???
But it was enjoyable time for me.

In the way to my home, I saw this big christmas tree.

And I met these four cats.

When I came back home, I soon opened items what I got in the event.

What I got in Yokohama quilt week
This was old Yukata(Summer Kimono). I couldn't find any stains on the outside, so I think I could wear it. But I wanted to make some bags from it...

What I got in Yokohama quilt week
I fell love in this flower print.

After four hours walk, I came back home with some cakes for my boyfriend who waited for me without eating anything (* v *).

Have a good Friday and weekend !!!!

Thank you for sharing your lovely photos. There were some great quilts that we wouldn't otherwise get to see on the other side of the world.

I love the zips, they are fabulous, I wonder if they do them over here. I must go search the internet immediately.

The white quilt is exquisite, all that detail. I love the flowered fabric you bought, I wonder if it's something I can find here in the states.

Fabulous.

When I was a teen my father was stationed in Yokosuka. I graduated from Nile C. Kinnick in 1964, Yokohama. Who knows someday I'll get to visit. Several of my classmates still live there.

Thank you for sharing these impressions. I always wanted to be in Yokohama for the quilt week, but never actually were there at that time. So thanks for letting me take part in this event anyway. Maybe next year I will be there by myself?

Hello!
What lovely work!
I really like the fabric with flower print and those shiny zippers.

I left a little fun challenge on my blog for you. You should show your working table, just as it is, without tidying it up.
I was challenged by Constanca at Saídos da Concha, and now I have to challenge others.
Take a look at http://misspelicano.blogspot.com
It would be fun if you would like to join!
Thanks!

Hello! I have just discovered your lovely little blog and over the past two days, read every entry since your first! It was fun going backwards! Your blog inspired me to get my own blog back in action and organized, and of course, get back to sewing as much as possible!

I am impressed that you handsew everything! I try to do hand stitch details whenever I can, but now I feel inspired to do more handwork. I realized that if we move to Japan for a year or two, I may have to get used to that since I won't take my sewing machine. It would be worth it to move there though!

The white sew is dazzling, all that detail. I cherish the bloomed texture you purchased, I think about whether it's something I can discover here in the states.
