How to make an origami lotus
I'm going to explain how to make a lotus.
This origami paper is 20 cm square.
(1)Fold it in half to make a crease and fold back. Turn right by 90 degrees and repeat it. You make the pink creases.
(2)Fold the corners to meet the center lines.
It becomes like these.
(3)Then repeat it. Fold the corners to meet the center lines.
(4)Once more, repeat it. Fold the corners to meet the center lines.
(5)Turn over it. And then, once more, repeat it. Fold the corners to meet the center lines.
(6)Then, fold each corner a little.
(7)Turn over it. Then open each flower petal from the center. It's easy to break, so you have to treat it gently. It comes like this. you made 4 petals.
(8)Turn over it, and make next flower petals again.
It comes like this.
(9)The last ones. Turn over it, and make tha last petals. It's easiest to break! I made this lotus several times, but I've never made them without break these last petals...
(10)You finished it!
If I couldn't explain it in a good way, please leave a comment.
Thank you!!!!!

You are so kind to show how to make these beautiful lotus oragami!
Your instructions are really good! I made one following them...but mine is a bit squashed looking ^^; I need to practice to make it neater!
Your instructions were very clear and detailed! They are really cute :o) I like the paper you used as well. this is my first time at your blog, and I really like it! Take care & have a nice weekend!
Thank you all!
I bought these papers in a 100 yen shop. They sell a lot of items at only 100 yen(about $1).
Clare, it's difficult to turn over it without breaking the paper. I'll write another instruction, easier.
These origami flowers look great! I used to do a bit of origami years ago, but haven't done any lately... this made me want to give it a go again...
ohhh my paper is too thick and its broken! i dont think i folded it as neat as i could.
Very easy to under stand instruction.

nice guide
Where can you buy paper like that?
Those are some pretty cool tomoe seal paper you used ^^
Well, I did rip the little son-of-a-guns a little on a petal or two, and had to toss a couple of ones I REALLY ripped, but finally, I've made some passable lotus blossoms. I would hope that I get a little more delicate with practice! Your instructions were, perhaps, the most detailed and useful of the ones I've found, and I really like that you have extreme close-ups of every step. Thank you!
Thank you for the post !!
Will come back to this post and try it. Thanks for sharing your instructions. Perhaps I will be brave enough to show you my handiwork ..lol

wow, this has been the best set of instructions I have found for making any sort of origami flowers. I realy hope you post more origami instructions for different things (more flowers, animals, etc.) The large, detailed photos are way better than any drawing I could find. Well done!!!
Many institutions limit access to their online information. Making this information available will be an asset to all.
Your instructions are really clear and detailed and my model came out quite nicely! ^^
wow great, i will try that...

Thank you so much--these are the best instructions I've found and by far the prettiest!
Your explanation is very good. The lotus flowers are hard to make. I need to practise.
Thank you.
