Today I received a letter from my grandmother.
It was to celebrate my birthday. Every year she writes me a letter.
From my childhood, I sewed many goods for her, so she always writes me about them. She always writes me how she is proud of me and how happy she is.
I'm proud of her, because who teaches me a lot. She is always reading books and writing diaries. I'm doing also. It's very important custom for me.
This picture is me! She remembered the clothes what I wear often. And she wrote beside it "My pretty little lighthouse."
I'm really happy with her letters.

Hi Mairuru, which part of Japan are you from? I am very impressed by your hand quiltings and am inspired to make one myself... but do you have any recommendation? Like any patterns for beginners? Also, if I want to make a trip to Japan with an intention to buy some fabrics for quilting, which place would you recommend? I am sorry for asking so many questions... I am just excited. Thanks!! :) - Juei
Hello Juei,
Thank you for your comment.
I know many patterns and instructions on the web, but they are always in japanese only. Here, you can see some patterns and instructions to make pouches.

In Japanese only, but you can see the instructions with many pictures.
I'm from Yokohama, near Tokyo. In Shinjuku and Nippori, I can get cheap & good fabrics. And I have my favorite shop in Kamakura too.
If you want to know more, please write me!

Hello Surya,
I call them "Ojii-chan", "Obaa-chan".
My "Obaa-chan" lives alone, so I'm always think of her.
Happy birthday! Which day is your day? I think our birthdays are really close. Mine is Jan 28. How sweet a grandmother you have! I love her drawing of you. I used to keep a journal most days from when I was around 8 or 9. I stopped when I had children, just too little time. Maybe I will start again.
Hallo Mai, I am very touched by this post & your whole blog. I really enjoy reading & looking at the pics. We have been living in Tokyo for 3 years. Our children attend the Deutsche School in Yokohama. I drive passed Kawasaki (on Daishan Keihin) about 2 - 3 times a week.
